Get a NuFACE and Help Haiti

If you want to lift and smooth your skin, but aren’t quite ready for a surgical facelift (or injectables) you might want to look into NuFACE, a battery-powered device that promises to tone and rejuvenate skin with microcurrent technology. And, if your act fast, your purchase will do more than just reduce wrinkles.
During the month of March, the company is making a donation to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund with every NuFACE device sold. They retail for $325 and come with Conductivity Gel, Optimizing Mist, an instructional DVD, and a user manual.
See some NuFACE before and after photos and a training video to learn more about how the technology works.

Spa’s Holiday Gift Guide: Day 7 – Jewelry

Editor’s Pick: After the holidays, everyone starts to think about their New Year’s resolutions, and I’m betting one of the top resolutions is a step towards better health.
Help a loved one achieve their resolution with a chic solution: The Count Me Healthy bracelets ($88). These bracelets help to make tracking daily wellness goals fun and stylish: each one has 12 silver beads on it—which the wearer assigns a value or goal—that are moved to the other end of the bracelet once that goal is “crossed off” for the day.
Some of their recommendations for use are: counting glasses of water a day, counting points on popular diet “point” systems, number of cigarettes (help a loved one quit!), and so on…the list is endless. There are 8 different styles to choose from, including Golf Goddess, Mommy & Me, and Bride-to-Be.

Spa’s Holiday Gift Guide: Day 3 – Fashion

Editor’s Pick: As the weather cools, finding the perfect wrap can be quite a task. I’ve been on the hunt for one that looks great with both jeans or a fancy dress, and finally found the Jo Silk Jersey Wrap ($145).
The dye process gives it a very unique look, and the silk georgette underlay provides a special feminine touch that allows it to be paired with dressier items. This is the perfect gift for a friend that loves to travel, as she will only need this one versatile piece to keep her warm on the plane, while lounging during the day, and at dinner in the evening.
Also, Gypsy 05 prides itself on environmental awareness by using organic fabrics, low impact dyes, and water-based printing in every collection, so you can also feel good about this purchase.
If this wrap isn’t within your gift-giving budget, their scarves are a beautiful alternative at only $75.

Dark Nail Polish for Winter

I love the return to dark nail polish in the fall and winter. But black polish doesn’t always feel appropriate now that I’m not in high school anymore.
So what are the options? I like using dark shades of burgundy, green, purple, blue and gray. Think rich colors that might appear black from a distance but deliver pops of color under the light. OPI, SpaRitual, and CND all have great options in every color imaginable.
Check out two shades from OPI that I love right now: “Give Me Moor” (left) for work and “DS Mystery” (right) for the weekend (and on the nails of my lovely model, Veronica from the Art Department).

Wear Your Favorite Food with FoodTees

Nothing completes an outfit of jeans and flats like a cute and clever t-shirt. And if your clothes represent something you believe in or care about? Even better!
That’s why I’m loving these adorable shirts by FoodTee. With their clever graphics and wholesome messages (love that green onion in warrior pose!), you can showcase your love of healthy food, yoga, and quirky style. FoodTee also donates some of their proceeds to The Food Studies Institute, Two angry Moms, and Better School Food, all of which help make healthy food accessible to everyone.
And check out Nina and Tom for cute baby and toddler options (many printed on organic cotton). Who knows, you may even inspire someone else to give a healthy lifestyle a try.

Style Tip: Jewelry at Cost Plus World Market

When I think of Cost Plus World Market, I usually think of the amazing culinary treats they have there or the unique home furnishings. However, my last trip there revealed a whole world of amazingly affordable accessories that are begging to be packed for a resort or spa getaway!
I gazed longingly at rack after rack of earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces, and scarves, imagining the perfect outfit for each piece. I finally settled on the items pictured here, each only $4.99! In fact, a majority of the earrings in the store were only $4.99, necklaces around $10-15. They even had a small rack of tunics and dresses for around $19 each—perfect for a beach vacation (I fell in love with a brown and cream print tunic that I’m kicking myself right now for not purchasing).
The selection isn’t nearly as extensive (or as cheap) online, but if you don’t have a location near you it’s a great way to still be able to shop their collection. My online picks are: the Novica Festive Thai Sterling Silver Chime Bracelet, the Novica Aqua Tear Sterling Silver Dangle Earrings, the Novica Sterling Silver and Amethyst Pendant Necklace, and the Novica Brave Java Silk Batik Shawl. I can imagine all of these adorning a model in one of our photo shoots!
Please share if you have any great jewelry/accessory finds you would recommend to readers or for a future Spa photo shoot…you just may see your suggestion in the pages of our magazine!
