How to Get Vitamin D and Protect Your Skin?

Even as winter approaches and the hours of daylight dwindle, I continue to worry about protecting my skin from the sun. (I’m cursed with a fair complexion that burns easily—thanks, Dad …) But recently, I’ve been reading a lot about the importance of vitamin D, which we get mainly from sun exposure.
Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to certain types of cancers, as well as stroke and heart disease, according to a new study.
But how do you get enough vitamin D and still protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun? That’s a question that’s been worrying me quite a bit lately. So I asked around the office, and Natalie Ridsdale, our managing editor, pointed me to a brief article from the July/August 2009 issue.
That article, “A Sunny Solution to Weight Loss,” answered my question. Check it out!
