Refreshment
- Take some refreshment drink after the sauna, because ‘wasted’ fluids should be replaced. Choose your favorite drink, but the best are those which provide carbohydrates to the body. The light beer appears to be the best choice because it helps the body to recover faster, but if drunk slowly. The most common drink is mineral water, it is helpful, but only replaces lost fluids and not carbons.
- Very often, sauna is followed by hunger. Thus, enjoy a salty snack afterwards. Choose among various meals such as pizza, sausages or salty sardines because they will help replace the lost sodium. The Finns mostly enjoy makkara, very sparsely spiced sausage typical for their cuisine.
