CODE OF CONDUCT (ETHICS) IN THE SAUNA
Keep the sauna a quiet retreat where the everyday rigidity is left outside.
Important condition for a pleasant mood in sauna is PEACE. Singing or a loud talking in sauna is not aloud. Be silent and let the other users to rest in a silent atmosphere.
Enter the sauna quickly and close the door immediately to prevent the cold air entering the sauna. Seat on the bench where there is a free place.
Take a towel and put it under the all parts of your body and feet. If it is possible you can stretch your legs, or lie down on your back. The most important is to be thoughtful about the other bathers and to lie back and to outstretch out only if there is enough space on the benches.
You can move from time to time on the lower or the upper benches, if you think you will feel better on a lower or a higher temperature.
The hot air is going up, thus the highest temperature is beneath the ceiling. Head is mostly exposed to heat, and your feet the least. For that reasons it is recommended for the beginners to lie back if there is enough of space.
Be considerate toward the others! Do not throw the water on the stones just if you wish to. Leave it to the sauna ‘host’ or you do it, but only if the other bathers are agreed with the increasing of air humidity in the room.
After leaving a sauna take a shower, but do not hurry with it. Nevertheless, after the sauna, before swimming in a cold pool or taking rest on the open-air, you have to take a shower!
Relaxing between sauna/cooling processes is a very important part of sauna bathing! Be quiet in relaxing areas and lie down on your towel / cover. Talking loud or singing is not allowed. In the areas amidst the saunas, walk wrapped in the towel or a sheet.
