Are You a Spa Addict?
For those of us who have been to a spa or have had a great massage – we know the feeling of complete relaxation or pampering. It is something we never forget and certainly want more of. I call it being a "Spa Addict" and in these tough times this can be a very good thing. I have had letters and emails talking about ‘what to do’ and ‘do we deserve such extras like a massage or spa treatment in these tough times?’
Of course no one can justify extra spending when they have lost their job, but spas are so much more than what is perceived as an indulgence. They really are about wellness because human touch is one of the best ways to regenerate and/or heal. So when things get tough there is no shame in going to a spa and investing in yourself. It is proven that spa treatments reduce stress, blood pressure, and help healing, growth and even weight loss.
I had a short trip to Québec recently and visited some spas there and I am pleased to say they are growing and expanding. I love to try different treatments wherever I go and the more the merrier! I asked several spa guests if this was their first time to a spa and four out of eight said yes. I then asked if they would come back and all said YES! That is the sign of a soon-to-be dedicated spa addict. My next question was ‘why are you here’? And a few answered it was a gift from someone, one answered it was her birthday, and a couple answered that they had always wanted to go to a spa.
So, to my mind, our spa population is growing by leaps and bounds despite these times we are facing. So fellow Addicts it is OK to go to a spa no matter what. To give gift certificates to others from you, to spread the word on your favourite spa and also to drop hints around special occasions that you’d love a spa gift certificate.
And, yes, I am a definite Spa Addict and proud of it!
